at Stephens Convention Center, January 16-20
CHICAGO (October 26, 2007) – Ah, the great outdoors. The 2008 Chicagoland Outdoors Show® returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and runs through Sunday, Jan. 20. Throughout its twenty-nine year history, The Chicagoland Outdoors Show – the largest sport fishing show in the greater Chicago area – has become a mecca for outdoor lovers, who can see, feel, test and purchase the newest products from fishing manufacturers; shop for splashy boats; participate in bubbly fishing seminars and activities; and even plan vacations to hundreds of outdoor destinations.
In addition to all the fishing this year’s show is soaked with fun features for the whole family, including: DockDogs® Competition, a long jump competition for dogs; The Great Lakes Timber Show, the ultimate exhibition of agility and strength; Cimmarron Archery Center, where kids can compete Trout Pond where guests can test out their skills at Chicago’s favorite fishing hole.
“Being the largest consumer fishing event of its kind, The Chicagoland Outdoors Show brings together outdoor enthusiasts of all ages,” explains John Lewinski, the show’s producer. “With dozens of exhibits, demos and seminars, this year’s show offers something for everyone.”
Show highlights included in the admission fee include:
DockDogs Competition – See firsthand the fastest growing canine sport in North America. Watch dogs go the distance in this “long jump” competition, as seen on ESPN.
Great Lakes Timber Show – Family fun featuring chainsaw carving, axe throwing, log rolling and more!
Fishing Hall – Find the latest gear for everything from freshwater to saltwater fishing, including rods, reels, lures, tackle and clothing, and talk to major fishing equipment manufacturers and retailers.
Outfitters & Lodges – Meet representatives from American and Canadian fishing and hunting lodges, camps, charters and outfitters.
Archery Center- Kids test their bow and arrow skills and compete at the Cimmarron Archery Center.
Fishing Seminars – Hook, line and sinker. Get tips from experts on how to fish like a pro.
Kids Day – Calling all future outdoor enthusiasts! Kids will be welcomed with a wealth of useful hunting, fishing and camping
Trout Pond – Go fish! Spend time at Chicago’s favorite fishing hole; an additional fee is required for participation.
RV/ATV/4WDs – Cruise the latest selections of new recreational vehicles, sport utility vehicles and all-terrain vehicles.
Hawg Tank – Learn techniques from pros as they demonstrate “luring” strategies in this fully-stocked tank.

Show hours for the 2008 Chicagoland Outdoors Show are Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 2 - 8 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 17 from 2 - 8 p.m.; Friday, Jan. 18 from 2 - 9 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults; $8 for seniors; weekdays kids under 16 are free and weekends kids ages 6-16 are $5 and under 6 are free. The box office closes one hour prior to show closing. Toyota is the official truck and Yamaha is the official ATV of the Chicagoland Outdoors Show.
